We are continuing our efforts to meet with the employer and work out a mutually agreeable contract. The latest communication from the County is that they are willing to meet to reallocate the money that has already been offered. The County has made it clear there is no more money in the budget for us.
Some of the County Management team have been approaching staff about crossing the picket lines and / or working from home (working from home is still considered crossing the picket line). We are in this fight together. We need to stand together and show the County that we cannot be divided.
Strike preparations are moving forward and we will be ready for the 18th. Many of you have volunteered and we appreciate the assistance.
We still are in need of picket captains. Training will be this Thursday August 15th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Food and Mileage will be provided.
Help is still needed with picket sign creation which will occur on Saturday August 17 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Food and Mileage will be provided.
Both Picket Captain Training and Picket sign creation will be held at the Barrie CUPE office located at 55 Cedar Point Drive, Unit 106 Barrie Ontario.
Remember this is about fair wages and respect for the work we do.
We will update when we know more
